I'm new-ish to modding, and I figured that the seed reprocessor wouldn't consume the seeds, but it does, which doesn't make sense in relation to the inferium seeds. Make sure the water block is at or one up from the tilled dirt block to properly hydrate it. Also, if you're doing dirt farming for inferium use fertilized dirt instead for a bonus to growth, as well as (I believe) being less prone to becoming untilled.
