Squirmy wormy's may "lessen the experience" for you. For some of us we are still learning and enjoying any experience we have. Some of us live in places where we don't get to "dry fly" fish all day long. We have to do what we can with what we have. I can tell you that in my first 10 years of fly fishing I could dry fly fish all day.

An update to my original post and some more information. I fished the Dynamix 6 weight this weekend with a 250 grain sink tip line and it was a blast. We were hitting the banks with casts of 30-60 feet from a boat and it performed like a champ. A good caster should be able to cast 50' to 60' sitting in a float tube with a 9' 5 or 6 weight. But the reality, as Mojo mentioned, is that one rarely needs to make that cast over 40'. In river fishing, the main advantage of the 10' rod is line control. It allows you to keep less line on the water for a dead drift.

For fishing small water in an ultra lite fashion it would be a sweet rod with action similar to today’s Winston B3X. In fact, you might check to see if you can get a 2wt B3X on sale that in my opinion, approximates the flex and action of the Sage 389. I have 2 B3X’s and really like them. My 2 cents. Best, SR.
