The laser version only exists on a limited production run in 2020, and when those fail, they replace them with the original IR sensors. Despite my LR3 being out of warranty, they sent me a replacement IR and pinch sensor kit free of charge (this is the first and only time I've needed service).
I can still switch the Litter Robot on and off via the app but I can't do anything else. I changed the old DFI sensor in April 2020 to the newer version because the old IR one stopped working. The new sensor came as part of the Connect upgrade kit which I purchased. The LR has been working flawlessly for the past 8 months or so.Pressing RESET will cancel the DFI flashing, but if the drawer is full, the sensors will action flashing again. Check for obstructions. Check for obstructions that might prevent the cat sensor from functioning. Make sure Litter-Robot is on a firm, level surface. Also I'd like to mention I have the original litter robot 3 that didn't come with connect. But I did install that a year later. I concluded (before disassembly) that it was both the pinch sensor and the DFI assemble causing me trouble so in a Hail Mary I tried to fix both problems in one go.
